Wenzel-MACS-R, designed by the rail communication expert Wenzel Elektronik, has been approved for an unlimited period by Eisenbahnbundesamt (EBA) as the first GSM-R telecommunication system.
In order to operate his entire telecommunication services the dispatcher only needs one uniform device, as from now on the functionalities of the GSM-R console needed so far are completely assumed by the system Wenzel-MACS-R.
Due to the fact that the whole range of GSM-R functions are fully integrated into the graphic user interface, the dispatcher obtains a comfortable workstation supporting the traditional rail communication services in addition.
Dr Volker Henkel, managing director of Wenzel Elektronik and responsible for international sales, is pleased to announce: "As a result of this approval we are a leader in the market for GSM-R compliant industrial telecommunications and proud to provide our expertise for future projects." Explaining this advantage he adds: "Henceforth by upgrading existing MACS systems, these can be made GSM-R compatible and connected to the GSM-R networks. We set a milestone for train control centres providing this possibility to migrate. Thus, in terms of operating comfort, functionality and service we offer a new dimension to the dispatcher."
Besides the graphic user interface Wenzel Elektronik supplies a number of desktop operator devices allowing flexible equipped workstations in train control centres.
