Wenzel Elektronik Gains First Type Approval by EBA for a VoIP Public Address System

WM-ELISA II admitted for equipment level 1 PA equipment

Elmshorn, 17 October 2007

Wenzel Elektronik has received the type approval by Eisenbahn-Bundesamt (EBA) for the remote public address system ELISA II, belonging to the product range Wenzel-MACS (WM-ELISA II). As a consequence, WM-ELISA II is the first system admitted for the equipment level 1 equipment on IP. The admission is a result of the successfully operating traveller's information system of the Berlin S-Bahn.

The advantages of a VoIP public address system are obvious: Substantial reduction in transmission costs due to the use of standardized transfer procedures. The migration is simple as well: Existing peripherals are directly connected via NF-lines and control lines. The flexible WM-ELISA II can be tailored to local requirements and can be expanded by power amplifiers, speaker lines and local consoles at any time.

"This type approval allows us to extend our previous position as a technology leader in GSM-R dispatcher systems also to IP-based public address systems. In addition, the web-based administration of WM-ELISA II especially facilitates the service and sets new standards to reduce the life cycle costs," commented Dr. Volker Henkel, CEO Wenzel Elektronik, the success.
